In India most poor children need to work during the day to earn for living which stops them from coming to school. The idea of a midday meal was initiated to keep these children coming back to their classes and get educated.

Conforming to this now-proven idea, Urban Infra Nirmaan has extended its wholehearted support to the cause and services of Akshaya Patra Foundation, the largest NGO midday meal programme in the world. Initiated in 2000 with the vision that no child shall be deprived of education because of hunger, Akshaya Patra feeds around 1.3 million children in 8196 government schools across 9 states in India everyday and aims to feed 5 million school children nationwide by 2020.

With twenty ISO 22000 certified kitchens across India, Akshaya Patra delivers quality food through heat insulated dust free vehicles, at a far less cost compared to other similar programs across the world. While for many of the children this meal is their only complete meal for the day, it also proves to be an incentive for them to come to school and get education.
